Swine show team opens season in Jackson County

The Madison County 4-H and FFA swine show team competed in the first swine show of the season Sept. 5 at the Jackson County High School Agriculture Center.

The annual opening swine competition for area teams is sponsored by the Jackson County Farm Bureau and Ag Georgia Farm Credit.

Sixteen Madison County students participated in the show. Competing in the Senior Showmanship were Madison County High School FFA members Rebeccah Fields, third-place finisher Zack Taylor, Jacob Collins, Alex McLaughlin, Chelsea Kellum and Taylor Bruce.

Junior Showmanship members included Jeb Adams, third-place finisher Kevin Jones, second-place winner Zack Tankersley and Austin Saye.

Madison County Middle School FFA members competing in the Intermediate Showmanship included Travis Tankersley, McKenzie Kellum, Makayla Kellum and Hunter Anderson, who placed third.

The Cloverleaf Showmanship class, which includes pre-K, kindergarten, first, second and third-graders, included first-place winner Blake Taylor, Eli Jones and Brooke Fleming.
